More updates about Nic, but I went on this trip too! 2008 and now 2010 Nic has participated in the LOTOJA bike race (which is Logan, UT to Jackson, Wyoming). This year he partnered with Marshall and Chase and Ryan teamed up, so each of them road about 100 miles each. Before the race we got to visit Sarah's family's ranch in Afton, Wyoming. It was so much fun, the weather was chilly but we still loved it.

The finish line was at Teton Village in Jackson Hole. It was a beautiful day and a gorgeous, breathtaking place.

I have been feeding my organizing addiction lately by going through pictures on the computer and this leads to blogging. It lets me reflect and realize how blessed and beautiful my life is, not always something I think about during the hustle and bustle of day to day hoopla. So, back in August a dear friend was married at the Scotia Inn (love you Nicole) in Humboldt so we made the trip. The wedding was beautiful. We had so much fun enjoying the company of friends. While in my home town I introduced Nic to a few yummy traditions including Tri Tip sandwiches at Porter Street and hot dogs from Red Front in Ferndale. We went to old town Eureka Saturday night and out to Centerville Beach on Sunday morning. It might sound strange but that beach is a part of me and I carry so many memories of family, friends and feelings I've had there. There is not another shore where the waves roar so powerful and though it's usually cold, drippy and deserted, it welcomes me. As you can see Gavin enjoyed himself there as well. Digging in the sand and dirt is his activity of choice. I loved growing up so close to the ocean. Alltogether this was a great vacation. Thank you Humboldt for being a great place to grow up and return to visit, forever home in my heart.

Alaska!

So, while I was celebrating my 30th, Nic was on a true adventure floating down the some river I can't say the name of near Bethel, Alaska, fishing his heart out. Thanks to Nate, Nic's adventure seeking cousin, he was able to go with his Uncle Kerry, cousins and some friends on an eight day camping/rafting/freezing wet/fishing trip. I do not believe I can do the stories justice so I will do what I do best and post pictures. These are not really in order, but they are fun and show a bit of what he experienced there. Even though he ditched me for my birthday, I'm happy Nic was able to have this experience. While he was gone we had no contact, which was a little weird this day in age with cell phones. I called my mother in law Jill one night to say hello as I was missing Nic. I said, "It's kinda crazy not hearing from Nic for this long," and she responded "I bet he stinks!" It cracked me up, I love you Jill, thanks for making me smile all the time.

This summer has been eventful and life changing for us. In July I celebrated my 30th Birthday in Lake Tahoe. My mom and dad surprised me and got a cabin for the weekend in Tahoe City. It was so perfect, relaxing. Tahoe has been one of my favorite places since I was a little girl. I think mom's love for it rubbed off on all of us as she also grew up going there in the summer. The air smells crisp and sweet, and the pine trees and freezing cold deep blue water, mmm...thank you mom!

This is William, Nic's sister Stephanie's little boy. They are about 6 weeks apart, thanks to Jim and Jill (Grandma and Grandpa) we had a quick trip to Utah in April. It was really good to see family, Gavin just loves all of his cousins

Nic did a fundraiser Harley ride in April, 200 miles I think! This is the morning he left. Gavin will never know life without motorcycles!

First trip to the zoo. It was tons of fun, the Phoenix Zoo has beautiful grounds, we really enjoyed it! Gavin liked the monkeys the best and he didn't seem to even notice this huge giraffe behind us. He was more interested in the Dumdum sucker he was devouring.

Nonnie was just here for a visit and it was SO much fun. They read TONS of stories together, we went to the library, the Children's Museum, the park and as much shopping as Gavin would let us get away with. Love you Nonnie!

Hello people who peak at my blog and wonder if I'm losing my mind or going through some major life crisis, I'm not :) Gavin attacked my lap top (ugh and aahhh!) while Nic was gone a weekend in february and my computer time has not been the same since. In march I (plus coley and gavers) spent time at mom and dad's which is when we took this pic. We went to see the matinee of Wicked in San Francisco (loved it of course) and dad watched Gavin.

This is my favorite picture from Halloween, I just can't stop smoochin' that little face. The Great Gavinski (as Papa calls him) was an adorable teddy bear, costume homemade with love by Grandma Nonnie. He had a bow tie that wasn't on yet for this picture.

Thanksgiving Day 2009 in Utah, Gavin's first Thanksgiving. He liked the food, LOVED playing with his cousins.

Jarem holding William, Gavin's cousin who is just 6 ish weeks younger...I think, they'll probably be best buds.

We got to see Great Grandpa and Grandma Judd a few times and it was lovely, as always. Gavin just was not interested in being held at this most in time, if you couldn't already tell.

Gavin turned 1 and we had a PARTY! Thanks to Aunt Coley for all of your help with planning and cake making.

We spent almost a week at Grandma Nonnie and Papa's house for Christmas. Gavin loved it! Here he is enjoying the stairs, he loves going down backwards on his tummy. He really flys when he does it in his feetie pajamas!

We had a great Christmas visit with Grandpa Van Horne. He celebrated his 90th Birthday in November and is doing great. I just wish we could see him more. Gavin was so happy to play at his house.

Gavin had fun Christmas morning but he was a little unsure of all the wrapping paper throwing and little remote control helicopter flying...he looked like this most of the morning.

Here is Chase, Rachel, Dad and Gav playin' some Beatles rock band, we had some fun with that. So glad that Joe, Monica, Rachel, Kimberly and Grams and Gramps came from Redding for Christmas day. I loved seeing you all!

Gavin can't wait for a real ride on the Harley with Papa. He loves his Papa!

Nonnie took Gavin to the neighbor's blow up Santa, he was more interested in the grass, ha!

After Christmas weekend we got to have a really quick, but very appreciated visit with Lisa, Matt, Sue, Meghan and Hannah. I miss you girls and wish our visits were not so few and far between. Gavin and Hannah were a little more interested in each other than the last time they met. Next time they will probably both be running around, cute little munchins.

Thanks to Toni, Megs and anyone else who might be helping this computer working challenged girl, I will be posting more pictures, more often because Gavin brings me so much joy I must share it with you through pictures and video clips. This is 9 month old Gavin. He is growing fast, learning tons and is so much fun. We recently had his 9 mo. check up with the doctor and here are some of his stats. He is 29 1/2 inches tall (90th percentile) and weighs 21.2 lbs ( 65th percentile). He's not too chubby but still has some yummy fat rolls on his little legos. He loves to crawl and pull himself up on everything. He walks around the whole house while holding onto things. We bought him a little stand up and push walker thing but he doesn't use it much. Yesterday I was trying to fold laundry and he kept stealing the laundry basket using it as his walking helper. He thought it was hilarious. He eats lots of different things, but especially loves to eat whatever I'm eating! Time is flying by, my baby is so big now!

Gavin's first visit to the beach was tons of fun. We visited San Diego and it was perfect. We watched the sunset at La Jolla and the next day we went to beach close to Nic's sister Jen's house in Pacific Beach. Gavin loved the water and the wet, messy sand. Hopefully he'll continue to share the love of the ocean with me, since for me being at the beach is almost the happiest place on earth (it's not you either Disneyland, but love you too!)

We had a great visit in Rocklin (at Mom and Dad's) with Meghan, Hannah, Lisa and Sue. Thank you ladies for taking the time to come see us. I can't wait to be closer to you so our visits can be more frequent. Thank you Mom and Dad for making a delicious dinner for us.
Hannah is such a little sweetie. Meghan and Hannah spent the night and I got to see her morning stretch after she is unswaddled, absolutely adorable. Love you all!

Lucky Seven??

We escaped to Sedona to celebrate our 7 year anniversary last week. I know it sounds crazy, but there is something about that place that is so rejuvenating. We relaxed, ate pretty good food and did some light hiking. Also, with Nic's help, Gavin chased the ducks. I love last minute overnighters, so spontaneous! I will publicly declare that I have an amazing husband, Nic, I love you more than ever!
Gavin Update:
He is now almost 7 months old, weighs over 17 lbs and is about 26 in tall. He loves his walker (he chases Gunner around the house)and scoots around on his belly. His hair is growing back from the horrible butcher job I did. He loves to babble, loudly and we love it. He is doing great eating solids, some of his favorites include vanilla yogurt, applesauce and vanilla wafers. Yeah Gavin!

For about 5 years my dad was a body guard for the Governator. I came across this picture the other day and thought, hey I should share my dad's claim to fame with the blog world. He no longer bumps shoulders with the Terminator. He traveled the country and met many famous people (including Oprah!) They didn't really become best buds or anything, but I know Arnold admired my dad's fabulous hair style, he was worried it looked better than his, haha! Notice the cigar...he smokes like a chimey, super gross! Dad has moved on, he now teaches weapons at the California Highway Patrol academy, right up his alley. Anyway, love you dad, you rock. We had a few breakthroughs this week. Last night Gavin slept from 9pm until 4am! I almost woke Nic up to tell him I was so excited. Also, we have been having issues (mad screaming and crying) with tummy time, but since we don't want Gavin to remain a slug, we've been working on it. Today he gave in and has had 2 successful tummy time sessions! Here's a little video to share some of Gavin's happy sounds.

We were so lucky to have tons of family visit for the weekend of Gavin's baby blessing. Thanks to Nic's parents all of his siblings and their families were here, plus Nic's Grandma and Grandpa, then my parents, siblings and their families were here also! The weekend was great and included about 40 of us going to In and Out together for lunch, bowling, shopping and ended with a fabulous Super Bowl Party. The blessing was on Sunday Feb. 1st, given at our sacrament meeting by Nic. Gavin did great and was lucky to be surrounded by many worthy priesthood holders to be blessed. Thanks to everyone for making it so special. We love you!

Yes, we are still waiting for baby Judd to make his appearance. The induction will be tomorrow or Friday so there is an end in site. Luckily my Mom is here and has been keeping me busy. We've been walking and walking and walking and trying multiple other things which resulted in me being dilated to a whopping 1 as of yesterday morning. I am still very happy, just trying to enjoy this time instead of going CRAZY!

Kitchen make over!

This is our kitchen 2 years ago, pre new appliances, paint, lighting and faucet.
The last 2 years we have been searching for a way to update our counter tops, although mauve was once a lovely, coveted color by many, that was about 20 years ago!

And now...wala! A very talented painter and $150 dollars later we have a somewhat modern looking kitchen. Yes that's right, they just sand down the counter tops and paint them! I am so excited that Nic found this company. It was via one of the houses his client bought. We love it!

Nic created a big tape ball and attached it to Gunner's tail. He tried to chase it for a minute and then just froze in terror!
This is for you mom, the baby crib featuring the super cute bedding! I still need to wash/iron and tie the bumper on correctly but I love it!
And this is the combo dresser and changing table. To quote Nic "Our bedroom furniture isn't this nice." I don't really see the problem with that.

The big race! LOTOJA

Since before I knew Nicholas, he has wanted to attempt the LOTOJA (Logan, UT to Jackson Hole, WY) bike race that is about 200 miles. This year he did it! He was on a team of 5 (Nic plus the Lees and the Millers), and they finished with great times. The idea is that I can join in next year! It will be great to get into shape again. Congrats to the the whole team for such a big accomplishment.

The big question has been: Girl or Boy???

Yesterday we found out IT'S A BOY!
Baby boy Judd is 8-10 inches long and weighs about 12 oz. So far he looks healthy and strong! We are SO happy. He let us get some pretty good pictures during the ultra sound. While we were looking at his profile he opened his mouth and moved his hands by his face, it was amazing to see that happening. So, there's a little boy inside me, SO CRAZY!

This is where he made it perfectly clear that he's a little man! The ultra sound tech said, "They're not supposed to have 3 legs!" Ha Ha

While I was in Sac, we visited the Sac Zoo! I was going crazy with my new camera, it's addicting, I can't wait to have my own little one to shoot pics of. Aren't my parents and my brother's family gorgeous? I love them SO much!

Nic and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. We enjoyed a relaxing day at La Jolla Cove.

The rest of my time in San Diego was spent camping in Carlsbad, with my bestest friends. I loved bumming it on the beach! The kids loved playing in the water, they are way more brave then me. I feel so lucky to included as a part of this adventure, thanks to you all! I miss the beach already, sad...

This much anticipated day was better than I could have imagined! Thank you so much to friends and family for being here! Later that night we partied it up at the Lees's, swimming and eating delicious food (thanks to my amazing friends Hilari and Brooke for the food).

After that weekend I escaped to CA for a week with my parents, which was some much needed time there, then I left for San Diego with Nic and spent over a week there! So, now I'm back to a bit of reality without school, yippee!

We spent a few hours exploring the city, bought some fresh delicioso tortillas and some of the girls bargained for some really cute knock off purses.
Nic enjoying some time by the pool. The resort was really nice, huge pools and quick beach access. Some of the guys rented some wave runners right off the beach and we rode with dolphins swimming around us!
This is the view from the condo, we're standing on the porch. It is so nice to wake up to the ocean every morning. We all had a fabulous time. I got a little too much sun, watch out for the deceiving sun rays in Mexico!

Visits with Clara!

A few weeks ago we went to Blythe for a quick get away, it was really nice! Sunday afternoon Clara kicked back to watch some Baby Einstein. I thought it was amazing how long it held her attention. She is destined to be a smartie pants!

Chris, Julia and Clara came to visit Phoenix when they bought their new car. Of course I made some videos of Clara. This one is cute, listen for the surprise at the end and how her Dad gets kick out of it!

About 5 weeks ago, on a normal Monday evening, I ventured into the bathroom to take a simple pregnancy test and WAH LAH, it was positive! Immediately we ran to the store, because I had to try another one... and it was positive too!

This week I had my first Dr. appt., which went well, the baby is about 6 cm long and the heart is beating 167 beats/minute! I affectionately call this ultra sound photo the little blob, since we can't really see anything yet. So far I'm due 11/25/08. Nic was a little shocked at first, to say the least, but we are both really excited!

It's been awhile since I've posted any pics. A few weekends ago we celebrated Nic's 30th birthday. Saturday the 5th we spent the day together.

We hiked Lookout Peak and then later that night I surprised Nic by taking him to see Ray Ramono's Live Comedy show. We laughed til we cried, he loved it!

Then on Nic's actual birthday, the 8th, we celebrated some more. Coley and Chase took us to dinner and we came home to find our house full of great friends to surprise Nic! I bought WAY too much cake, still have some cheese cake in the frig, but good times all around.

Nicole, Chase, Nic and I had tons of fun on our Utah trip last month. We went to Snow Basin, there was SO much SNOW! There is a little part of me that is starting to enjoy being in the snow. It does not come naturally but I'm working on it! We dined at the place with bottomless frys (Red Robin), guilty pleasure.

We decided to attend the church Valentine's party retro style. Funny, but I can remember a time I would have loved sleeves as puffy as that! Before the party we wined and dined at the ever so fancy IHOP (only place that could get us in right away), and as you can see in the first picture, we were quite a site. It was tons of fun, thanks to Deseret Industries for carrying the retro clothing line. Thank goodness we have friends that participated and made this night tons of fun!

This week I finished the 1st of 6 rotations until I graduate from pharmacy school. YEAH! The girls from Glendale Pharmacy brought me a farewell cake and these balloons. Adalia says the big happy face looks like me, HA!

Then this weekend we checked out the holiday celebration Glendale Glittters in downtown Glendale with Coley, Chase, Tono, Brielle and little Bryton. It was fun, pretty lights and lots of people!

Wreaths are commonly made by evergreens as a symbol for the strength of life, with these plants overcoming even the harshest winters.

I decided to build a wreath from our extra Christmas tree branches. It wasn't too bad, seems to be symmetrical and I like it. I love that the wreath and the evergreen tree stand for strength of life. The Christmas holiday brings me extra strength and peace.

Our tree this year, minus the flash on my camera, THANKS to Chase and Nicole for chopping down our tree, WE LOVE IT!

Nic and I were shopping for certain Christmas items this past weekend. I was thinking about buying lights for the outside of the house and just mentioning it made Nic all squirmy. He didn't want to spend the money...blah, blah, blah. I was frustrated that he didn't want to put lights up, we never have before. I was saddened by his lack of enthusiasm, and I gave up. Tuesday night I was at mutual with the young women and came home to icicle lights and colorful lights illuminating the house, even green and red lights are on our back porch. I was giddy, like a little girl. Hands down, best surprise I've had in while. The picture doesn't do the house justice (pic in previous post).

Nic replaced the starter on the 4-runner, saved us some $$$, but he was reminded that working on cars is not his favorite thing. He did a great job, I'm thankful for that!

Later that day we ventured on a motorcycle ride up towards Bartlett Lake, it was perfect riding weather and we enjoyed the cruise.

We camped in Sedona for the weekend, for some much needed relaxation time. Our air mattress went flat both nights and the axe broke and we couldn't find the vortex, but I feel energized by the great outdoors. The final photo is us on top of Devil's Bridge, my favorite hike so far in Sedona. Hard to tell but it's a long way down from the top.

Who knew we only needed one dog bed? Little max visited us last week and the dogs had some rumblin' tumblin' fun. At night they just konked out because they played so hard. WE MISS YOU MAX!

The other day I came out from the back room to see my dog, Gunner, checking himself out in the mirror. It was like the part on Archorman when Ron Burgundy says how good he looks and screams "Everyone, come see how good I look!" In case you were wondering Gunner didn't really say that, ha! But it was still funny.

My little baby sis Nicole and her lova Chase are living with us and this is just a cute snap shot of them, AH Newly Weds!

Saturday night we ventured to a Diamondbacks game and our "dates" were the Jacksons. Afterwards we chowed down at some Tee Pee....something Mexican restaurant, to wait out the traffic because the game was practically sold out. The food was decent, restaurant was a little deserted (scary??) but as far I know we are all still alive.

For those of you who haven't ventured into Northern Cali here is a little taste of how gorgeous the beach can be on a sunny day. This is Centerville Beach, outside of a little Victorian town called Ferndale (where the movies Outbreak and The Magestic were filmed, my Dad got to meet Dustin Hoffman) This is about 10 miles from Fortuna, where I grew up. Last month I was able to visit, OH the memories...I just love it there!
